Hey {{first_name}}
I hope you had a great weekend and you're feeling ready for the week ahead.
I need to talk to you about something that happened last week.
Technology giant Block just let go of 40% of its workforce, citing AI as the reason.
In the same week, Wisetech Global laid off thousands of staff, and Commonwealth Bank announced the same.
This is not the time to ignore these signals.
I wanted to hit pause on everything else this week and talk about what's actually happening right now and, more importantly, what you need to do about it.
Because I'm not here to create fear or panic, but I'm also not going to bury my head in the sand and pretend this isn't real.
AI is taking jobs. That's now a fact we can't ignore.
But it doesn't need to take your job, and that's what this week's episode and this newsletter are all about.
Here's what I'm seeing in my recruitment business:
Companies aren't hiring five software engineers anymore.
They're hiring one software engineer who understands how to use agents and apply AI.
This is how companies are thinking now, and I'm seeing it every single week.
So this is my message for you today:
Please, please, please take this seriously now.
We cannot ignore the signals anymore.
But here's the other side of this:
While there's fear and uncertainty everywhere, there's also never been such an opportunity.
You've got two ways of looking at this:
Option one: This is the time to get so far ahead in my career. If I start using these tools, positioning myself correctly, and becoming more visible in the marketplace, I could earn more than I've ever earned before. I could start that side business I've always wanted to start. The opportunities are limitless.
Option two: Get left behind and get left behind really quickly.
I don't want any woman in my community to walk into work this week or this year and get caught short because she hasn't done the work to upskill herself, been visible, or positioned herself correctly for the future.
So I want to share three things you need to do right now to properly futureproof your career.
I really hope this serves you today. I hope it gives you clarity, not fear, and helps you feel empowered to take action, because that's what's going to keep you ahead.
Let's dive in.
The 3 new career rules you need to know to get ahead in the age of AI
Rule #1: Your network is your leverage
Here's a stat most people ignore:
85% of roles are filled through networks.
Not job boards. Not cold applications. Not spray-and-pray CV submissions.
Your network, yet most people treat their network like a backup plan. Or worse, they activate it when they're desperate.
Inside my coaching program, I teach a framework I call NET:
N — Name your people (who knows you? who do you know?)
E — Engage with value (not just when you need something)
T — Turn relationships into opportunities (consistent value = natural opportunities)
The key is to start before you need a job.
If you're in the market right now, reach out to past colleagues, bosses, clients, anyone who knows your capability. Keep it short, be curious, and let them know what you're exploring.
Warm introductions beat cold CVs every single time.
Rule #2: Your packaging needs to position you for the future, not the past
If your CV is optimised for your past role, you're not going to get the opportunities you actually want.
Here's the question I want you to ask yourself:
Is this positioning me for the job I want or the job I had?
Your CV now has two audiences:
The system (ATS, AI screening, keyword scanning)
A human (recruiter, hiring manager, leader under pressure)
So it needs to be scannable for AI and compelling for a human.
That means:
Make it skimmable in 10 seconds
Lead with impact, not responsibilities (what changed because you were there?)
Speak the market's language (pull keywords from the roles you want)
If your CV looks like everyone else's, you'll be treated like everyone else.
But when your packaging is sharp, you have far more chance of being chosen, not compared.
Rule #3: Visibility is opportunity
In 2026 and beyond, visibility is opportunity.
Your reputation is no longer built quietly behind closed doors. It's built in public.
If nobody sees how you solve problems, if your LinkedIn is silent, if you're invisible outside your company, you are replaceable.
Not because you're not good. But because the market doesn't see you.
The people who move the fastest are visible.
They don't just do good work. They articulate it, share insights, comment intelligently, and build proximity to decision-makers.
Here's what I want you to think about:
Are you building a reputation that travels without you?
When someone searches your name, what do they see? A static CV or evidence of how you think?
You don't need to post every day. But you do need to be discoverable.
Because in this market, your reputation is your resume.
In this week's episode, I break down each of these three rules in detail and give you all the tactics you need to futureproof your career.
I walk you through exactly how to activate your network (even if you haven't spoken to people in years), how to rewrite your CV so it positions you for the future, and how to build visibility without posting every day on LinkedIn.
This is one of the most practical episodes I've recorded, and I really want you to listen to it.
Your practical challenge this week:
Pick one of these three rules and take action on it.
Maybe it's reaching out to five people in your network. Maybe it's rewriting your CV with outcome language. Maybe it's posting one insight on LinkedIn.
Start small, but start.
