Hey {{first_name}}
You know that feeling when you're stuck in a role that's fine, but you know deep down something needs to change?
Or, when you're scrolling job boards… and everything looks the same?
That's not you being "too picky."
That's your career trying to tell you something.
This week's podcast episode, I break down the five biggest career mistakes I'm seeing women make right now, and more importantly, how to fix them.
Because here's what I'm seeing in my recruitment business,
The world of work is changing fast. The roles we're hiring for now all include an AI component. And the women who are thriving aren't the ones waiting for things to slow down, they're the ones staying ready.
So let's talk about what's keeping so many women stuck, and what you need to do about it.
Mistake #1: No clarity
When you don't have clarity, you drift.
You end up chasing the next pay rise, the next promotion, the next job that lands in your inbox, without ever asking if it's actually what you want.
I've been there. I had the "successful" job on paper. Great money. Promotions, but I was miserable.
Why… Because I was completely out of alignment with my core values: health, freedom, and growth.
I was working in a micromanaged environment with zero flexibility, my health was shot, and I wasn't learning anything new. I felt like I was living someone else's life.
So I left… and walked straight into another version of the same job.
The pattern repeated until I finally got clear on what actually mattered to me, and designed my career around that.
Here's what I'm seeing:
Once you know your values, it becomes so easy to say yes and no to the right things, and something almost magical happens.
Opportunities that align with what you want start showing up, you notice them, and you act on them.
But none of that happens without clarity first.
Mistake #2: No system for networking
This one's huge.
85% of roles are filled through networks.
A lot of senior-level jobs never even get advertised.
Let me give you an example from my own business,
A head of talent at a large financial organisation called me recently and said, "We need someone with these skills. We're not advertising this. Do you know somebody?"
Within seconds, I thought of a woman in my network.
We'd stayed in touch over 18 months, coffees, events, check-ins, and when this role came up, I thought of her immediately.
I called her. She interviewed. Three weeks later, she had an offer.
That didn't happen because she sent out hundreds of applications.
It happened because she had a network.
And this is what's going to continue to happen over and over again.
The women who are intentional about building their network now will be the ones who are always employed and in demand in 12 months… 2 years… 5 years…
Your reputation is now your resume
You need a system for this, and you need to start before you're desperate.
Your reputation is now your resume.
Mistake #3: Positioning yourself for the past, not the future
If you're positioning yourself for the roles you've already done, you'll keep attracting the same opportunities.
Right now, you need to position yourself for where the market is heading.
Here's what I tell the women in my coaching program,
Become a job researcher, not a job seeker.
A couple of times a month, type your job title or a skill into job boards and see what comes up. Look for patterns. Notice the words that keep appearing.
Is it AI, automation, communication, collaboration?
Then ask yourself… Am I positioning myself for these future roles?
Are there skills showing up that I don't have yet?
What do I need to do to stay in demand?
This is how you need to be thinking about your career now, because the pace of change isn't slowing down.
You've got transferable skills, you've solved problems, and you've delivered outcomes.
Now it's about packaging that in a way the future market understands.
That's how you go from compared to chosen.
Mistake #4: Your packaging isn't AI-ready
Your LinkedIn profile, your CV, your digital footprint, this is your shop front now, and if it hasn't been refreshed in five years, that's a problem.
The LinkedIn algorithm is using more AI. Companies are using AI to scan resumes.
You need to be seen and searchable.
If I Googled your name right now, what would come up?
Here's what I'm seeing:
If your profile isn't optimised for AI, you're invisible. The tech is looking for patterns, keywords, and skills. If you're not showing up in those searches, you're going to have to work twice as hard, applying for more roles, chasing opportunities instead of having them come to you.
But if your profile is optimised, you get a steady stream of opportunities, even when you're not looking, and wouldn't you rather be in that position now, before you need it?
Because the worst time to build leverage is when you're desperate for it.
Your packaging needs to work for AI first (keywords, structure, skills) and then for humans (clean, clear, outcome-focused).
Mistake #5: Waiting until you need a job
This is the biggest one.
I don't know what's around the corner. I have no idea what the world will look like in 12 months, 18 months, or by 2030.
But I'd rather be positioning myself now, staying ready, staying ahead, having opportunities come to me than scrambling when I need them.
That's what I'm coaching the women in my program to do. Have choice, options, and leverage.
To be the person every company wants.
Because if you're reading this, you're skilled!
You've got transferable skills, knowledge, wisdom, and IP in the way you do things.
It's just about packaging and positioning it in a way the market understands.
Don't wait until you're comfortable to start this work.
The world isn't slowing down. AI isn't stopping.
The more you put this off, the more exposed you are.
The best time to act is before you need a job.
Stay visible, relevant, in demand and in control.
Your practical challenge this week:
Pick one of these five mistakes and fix it.
Just one.
Maybe it's getting clear on your values or reaching out to someone in your network or even refreshing your LinkedIn profile.
Start small. But start!
One more thing… my Bold Move Coaching Program is open
I've opened the doors to my 60-day Bold Move Coaching Program, and I can’t wait to work with you. I want to keep this a small group, so I have limited the number of spots available.
We kick off on March 10th, and as of now (750am AEDT on this Monday), there's only one spot left.
This program is everything I wish I'd had when I was feeling stuck, unclear, and overwhelmed by how fast things were changing.
It's the new career blueprint for this AI age, designed to give you clarity, confidence, and control over your next move.
We've built custom AI tools, market-mapping tools, clarity frameworks, and personal branding strategies; it's coaching… for the AI era.
And I'm so confident in what we've created that I can almost guarantee results within 60 days.
If you're ready to stop reacting and start designing your career with intention, DM me.
If I don't think I can help you, I will ensure to point you in the right direction.
I close the doors to the program on Friday unless we sell out beforehand, which is looking very likely. If you are ready to make 2026 the year you take a huge BOLD Move, I would love to see you inside.
