Hey {{first_name}},

I want to introduce you to someone whose story I think you're going to relate to.

Her name is Jodie Coomer. She's a senior leader with over 25 years of experience across some of Australia's biggest brands, including ANZ and Specsavers.

On the surface, she had everything you'd think you're supposed to want.

The big title, the great salary, the respected career.

She'd followed what she calls a very traditional path. Ticking every box, climbing every rung of the ladder, doing everything you're supposed to do to have a successful career.

But when Jodie and I recently sat down together, I could see something wasn't right. She was drained and stuck. She knew something needed to change, but didn't quite know how or what.

So she joined my Bold Moves Accelerator.

And this is where the story gets powerful

Halfway through the program, Jodie was made redundant.

For most women, that would have been devastating. The kind of news that sends you into panic mode, scrambling to update your CV, applying for anything, hoping something sticks.

But Jodie wasn't in panic mode.

Because she was already positioned.

She was clear on what she actually wanted next. She'd rebuilt her career story, repositioned her LinkedIn, and sharpened her network. She knew her value and could articulate it clearly.

Two weeks after being made redundant, she landed a new role.

Not just any role. One that aligned with her values, gave her flexibility, respected her expertise, and paid her what she was worth.

But here's what I love most about Jodie's story

She's not stopping there.

Jodie is now completely rethinking what her career could look like. She's stepped into contract work and is loving it. She's exploring the idea of a portfolio career where her week could look different from one week to the next.

She's staying open, staying curious, and giving herself permission to design her career in a way that actually fits her life.

This is the shift I want every woman to make right now.

Because the old model, the linear career, the loyal 25 year climb, the single employer with the single title on the single path, is not the model of the future.

Careers are no longer ladders. They look more like chessboards. And the women who thrive in this next chapter are the ones giving themselves permission to think differently.

Three things from our conversation I want you to sit with

1. Redundancy is not the end. It's often the beginning.

I know how brutal it feels in the moment. I speak to women every week who are navigating it. But some of the most powerful pivots I've watched women make have come out of redundancy.

It's not that the women who bounce back fastest are the luckiest. It's that they've already done the deeper work on their clarity, their positioning, and their network. So when it hits, they have something to move from.

Jodie is proof of that.

2. Your career doesn't have to look the way it always has

Jodie's biggest shift wasn't landing the new role. It was giving herself permission to imagine something different.

Contract work, portfolio careers, consulting, fractional roles. These aren't lesser paths. They're the future.

If you've been quietly wondering whether the traditional corporate ladder still fits who you are and where you're going, please know you're not alone.

What season are you in? Honour that season.

3. Your network is the career move you make before you need it

When I asked Jodie what advice she'd give to any woman feeling stuck right now, she said this.

Develop a relationship with a couple of recruiters you trust, join a group, get out there. Even in small ways.

Networking doesn't have to look like a giant conference where you're standing awkwardly in the corner. It can look like joining a female led group, following up with someone whose work you admire, or getting a coffee with someone in your industry.

Because it's not just about who you know. It's about who knows you.

The women who move fastest in this market are the ones who have already built the relationships long before they needed them.

This week…

Ask yourself Jodie's question.

What is one small step I could take this week to start moving in the direction of the career I actually want?

Not the big leap. The small step.

Because you don't need to feel ready. You just need to start.

Start before you feel ready. The confidence catches up.

Send it through. I want to know.

P.S. Jodie went through my Bold Move 60 Day Career Accelerator, and it changed everything for her. When the redundancy came halfway through, she wasn't scrambling. She was ready.
